Maurine Allison O'Bannon Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to perpetuate the memory of Maurine Allison O'Bannon at Kansas State University. This legacy provides $500 to undergraduates and $600 to graduate students who are degree seeking at K-State and enrolled in Division of Continuing Education courses.
Scholarship Deadlines
- Postmark Deadline – Fall 2009 Award: June 19, 2009
- Postmark Deadline – Spring 2010 Award: November 6, 2009
Scholarship Criteria
- The student must meet ONE of these criteria: 21 years of age or older, a parent, or returning after a lapse in his/her education.
- Shall be accepted in a K-State undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Shall be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours in K-State Division of Continuing Education courses during the semester he/she receives the scholarship.
- Undergraduate students shall have a 2.5 GPA; graduate students shall have a 2.5 undergraduate GPA and a 3.0 GPA for all graduate work.
- Shall have established financial need.
How to Apply
- Complete application form and submit all application materials by the deadline above.
- Provide documentation to establish financial need in the following formats:
- A copy of your most recent Federal Income Tax Form.
- (optional) A copy of the Financial Aid Award Letter (2006-2007 school year).
- (optional) Any additional records such as copies of Veterans benefits or public assistance.
- Submit a one page, typed summary describing:
- Biographical information
- Career goals and plans toward achieving them; explain how your degree will help you meet those goals.
- How you have been able to succeed in your academic endeavors.
- Why you need financial assistance in order to continue your academic career.
- Unique circumstances and obstacles you may be facing.
- Undergraduate students: If you have never attended Kansas State university before and this will be your first semester, please submit a photocopy of any transcripts with your prior credit hours and GPA earned.
- Graduate students: Submit a photocopy of your undergraduate transcript, indicating degree earned, and a photocopy of your graduate transcript.
