Certificate Programs and Professional Development Opportunities
Academic Advising Certificate Program
The Academic Advising graduate certificate is designed for practicing advisors and administrators desiring more formal education relating to academic advising, for faculty seeking advising knowledge beyond their discipline, and for graduate students anticipating academic advising roles. This certificate program is offered in partnership with the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). To complete the program, students must complete 15 credit hours of coursework.
Business Administration Certificate
This program provides an opportunity for individuals to gain basic business knowledge without having to participate in a full MBA program (52 credit hours). Students will attain an understanding of the basic functional areas and how each contributes to an effective business organization. The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration is a five course sequence of basic business classes (15 credit hours).
Conflict Resolution Certificate
A conflict resolution certificate program is offered at both the undergraduate and graduate level and will provide an excellent skill set for people in fields as diverse as social services, business, political science, psychology, women's advocacy, criminal justice and communication. The certificate in conflict resolution requires four, 3-credit-hour courses, for a total of 12 credits.
Gerontology Graduate Certificate
This program will prepare professionals that are either working directly with older people or are involved in education or research related to aging issues. The program has been designed to provide students with the core competencies identified by the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education.
Horticultural Therapy Master's Level Certificate
The Horticultural Therapy graduate certificate program is a 16 credit hour program offered online with two on-site, week-long sessions. The Graduate Certificate Program in Horticultural Therapy is built around the busy lives of health and human services professionals, horticulturists and educators that work with people with disabilities, older adults and those recovering from illness.
Management of Animal Health Related Organizations Graduate Certificate
The purpose of the certificate is to improve the effectiveness of companies in the animal health industry by educating employees and preparing them to take on more responsibilities and expand their career opportunities. The lead course will focus on the managerial challenges and dynamics of the animal health industry. This will be followed by business functional area courses that draw on examples from a range of industries. The certificate program will end with a detailed project that is based on a practical need in the employing organization. The program requires the completion of 16 graduate credit hours of coursework.
Occupational Health Psychology Graduate Certificate
This program is designed to supplement professional expertise in specific areas of psychology and other relevant fields. Students completing the concentration will receive a graduate certificate confirming their interdisciplinary training in Occupational Health Psychology Certificate and is designed for master's and doctoral students interested in teaching, research, consulting, and other professional activities in this area.
Organizational Leadership Certificate
A certificate in Business Organizational Leadership can prepare you to be an effective leader for your business' teams at all organizational levels. You will be able to take charge and provide for your corporation, government agency or non-profit organization in new and better ways. The 15 credit hours of coursework in the program will help you develop skills in creating the structure of an organization, managing conflict, operating at an international level, and guiding decision-making and organizational management.
Personal Financial Planning Graduate Certificate
Kansas State University personal financial planning graduate certificate program is a registered program with the CFP Board of Standards. Accurate and timely information in the key areas of financial planning will be provided, in addition to meeting the educational requirements of the CFP Board of Standards, qualifying you to sit for the CFP Board of Standards certification examination. The program consists of six courses, which are offered one at a time over a period of slightly more than one year. Courses completed in this program may be transferred to K-State's Financial Planning distance master's degree program.
Youth Development Graduate Certificate
Using a strengths-based approach, the program focuses on supporting youth to make them socially, emotionally, and cognitively competent adults. Students may choose from two concentration options: Youth Development Professional or Youth Development Administration.
