Admission Requirements
Chemical Engineering courses can be taken for graduate credit leading to a master of science degree or a limited number of courses (up to 9 credit hours/units) can be taken without formal degree candidacy. All students must apply for admission to the Graduate School as either an M.S.Ch.E. degree candidate or as a special "nondegree-seeking" student and must submit a copy of their undergraduate transcript. All application materials should be sent directly to the Chemical Engineering department. (See "Contact Us".)
For Admission forms and materials contact the Graduate School at (785) 532-6191.
Degree-Seeking Students
Admission with full standing requires that the applicant meet the following requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- An undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or above for the last 60 hours of courses taken.
Note: The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is waived for candidates holding a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. The GRE is required for all other candidates.
Students not meeting these requirements may be considered if they can demonstrate equivalent evidence of an appropriate background. Students with degrees from foreign institutions may be required to take the TOEFL exam.
