Dr. Harris is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Special Education, Counseling, and Student Affairs at Kansas State University. As an academician, he teaches graduate courses in the areas of intercollegiate athletics, the college-student athlete, and research methods. Additionally, he supervises graduate student internships in intercollegiate athletics at K-State and surrounding institutions. He has also previously taught a variety of undergraduate courses in the areas of sport and exercise psychology and sport sociology. Dr. Harris is a current member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, the American Psychological Association, and the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics. He is also a Certified Consultant with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP). As a researcher, Dr. Harris publishes research in the areas of youth sport, coach and athlete burnout, intercollegiate athletics and the college student-athlete, and professional practice issues in applied sport psychology, while also presenting his work at national conferences annually. As a sport and exercise psychology practitioner, Dr. Harris has consulted with youth and collegiate athletes, teams, parents, and coaches on a variety of sport psychology-related topics. He has also worked in an exercise setting with an overweight and obese adult population on behavior change and exercise adherence interventions.
