Intersession

K-State Intersession

What is Intersession?

Intersession provides a full range of opportunities for students and instructors. The K-State Intersession program offers on-campus, off-campus, field trips, study abroad, and online classes. Both students and instructors find Intersession to be a rewarding experience.

Intersession is a time between the standard terms that affords students the option of concentrating on one class in a short period of time. This is also a time when instructors can provide classes to meet the various needs and desires of students in a highly focused format.

When are Intersession classes offered?

K-State has three distinct Intersession time periods (January, May, and August) ranging from approximately one to three weeks. The January Intersession typically runs from late December to the middle of January, the May Intersession typically runs from the middle of May to early June, and the August Intersession typically runs from the end of July to the middle of August.

Are there other details I should know?

  • Intersession classes are 1–3 credit hours or credit units from a variety of departments and colleges.
  • Tuition and fees vary accordingly with each class; see the Classes & Enrollment area for details regarding the total cost of each class.
  • Enrollment is through iSIS, just like any other K-State class.
  • Enrolling early helps ensure sufficient enrollment for a class to be listed as a “Go.”
  • January Intersession is included in the Spring term. May and August Intersession are included in the Summer term.
  • Questions on specific class content should be directed to the individual instructors.
