If I want to take a course, do I have to go through the application process and be admitted into the university?

Yes, in order to take evening college courses you must be admitted to the university.

Is tuition for Evening College different from regular tuition since it (Evening College) is offered through the Division of Continuing Education?

The tuition is the same as for other on-campus courses.

What different degrees are offered through Evening College?

Criminology and Interdisciplinary Social Science are the specific bachelor's degrees offered through Evening College. Any of the courses offered through Evening College can be applied to other degree programs, and your academic advisor will help you interpret the requirements. We anticipate that Evening College will expand in the future to include other degree programs.

Am I able to participate in Evening College without any previous college experience?

Yes.

As an Evening College student, am I able to take online courses offered through the university?

Yes, but all prerequisites must be met for the course. Instructor permission may be required for some online courses.

Am I eligible to apply for financial aid for the Evening college program?

Yes. All students admitted to the university in a degree program may apply for student financial aid. The Office of Student Financial Assistance (SFA) can guide you through the different types of financial aid available such as scholarships, grants, loans and even employment opportunities. How will my previous or other college credits transfer?

K-State will accept transfer credits from other accredited institutions. The Admissions Office determines which credits will transfer from previous course work

Is Kansas State University accredited? How? With whom?

Yes, Kansas State University is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Chicago, Illinois. The standards are reviewed and accreditation is renewed every ten years.

How many courses can I take at once?

Theoretically, a student could take four courses per term. However, most students take one or two courses a term, but it is dependent upon your own time availability. The eight-week courses are more intense due to the condensed schedule.

Are all courses available all of the time?

No, the course schedule will vary from semester to semester.

Specifically, what courses are required for (X) degree?

How much is the admissions application fee?

The fee is a one-time, non-refundable payment of $30. If you discontinue course work, you may need to apply for re-admission. The URL for the online application for admission is: http://www.k-state.edu/admit.

Can I pursue a degree through evening college other than those offered?

Yes, but you must contact your academic advisor to make sure that the courses you take will apply toward the desired degree.

How long does it take to be admitted?

It depends upon the time it takes for other schools to send your transcripts after your application and application fee are received. It could take an additional three to four weeks.

How will I know when I have been admitted?

The University Admissions Office will mail you a letter letting you know that you have been admitted. You can also check your iSIS account by going to isis.k-state.edu, if you have established a K-State eID account.

Do you offer health insurance to Evening College Students?

Lafene Health Center provides a range of services to students: general care, special clinics, health education, nutrition, and physical therapy. In addition, the services of a pharmacy, laboratory, and x-ray are available at reduced rates. A complete medical history form is required of all students served at the center.

It is strongly recommended that all students at K-State carry medical insurance, either through a personal plan or through the university-sponsored student health insurance plan available at special rates. The plan covers most services provided at Lafene Health Center and allows claims for medical expenses if the student requires care away from the campus. In order to be eligible for the insurance plan, an undergraduate student must enroll at K-State for a minimum of seven credit hours in the fall or spring semester, and three credit hours in the summer semester.

What disability accommodations do you offer?

Kansas State University is committed to making courses accessible to all students. A student with a disability requiring a special accommodation should contact the Office of Disability Support Services at (785) 532-6441 at least three weeks prior to the beginning of the course. At any time after that K-State will make every effort to provide assistance, but cannot guarantee that requested services will be available.

How do I pay for my courses?

Students will be billed for their tuition and fees.

Do you offer a payment plan?

Yes. If you have a financial aid award, contact the Cashier's Office to discuss possible options.

How long are classes and when do they meet?

Most Evening College courses are offered on the K-State campus in both 8– and 16–week schedules. The majority of classes meet two nights a week from 5:30 – 7:55 or 8:05 – 10:30 p.m.

Can I start at any time?

The Application for Admission deadline is generally five days prior to the start of the term. You are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible so that you may start courses on time. Late receipt of transcripts will delay the review and analysis of your application.

Do you give credit for life/job experience?

K-State allows credit for prior learning, including credit for CLEP, Dantes, and Excelsior college exams. You can find a list of these at http://www.dce.k-state.edu/courses/bachelorsdegree/alternative-credit.shtml.

Will you accept my credits earned in the military?

K-State grants credit for your MOS and other military credits.
