Keynote Speaker

Dr. Joseph Parisi, Assistant Professor of Music Education and Associate Director of Bands at the University of Missouri Kansas City, has a most unique, realistic, and successful way to bring improvisation into your music program. For those teachers who feel unqualified or unsuccessful with the National Standards dealing with creating and improvisation, you must come learn with Joe. Prior to his appointment at UMKC, he spent eight years teaching in the public school system of Georgia. He has extensive experience as a performer, clinician, and adjudicator, and he understands the need to "Stay Alive" as a music teacher.

Additional Speakers

Artie Almeida, an award-winning, innovative, incredibly creative music educator from Florida, will bring us her newest publications and sessions on Fun with Fundamentals. Your teaching will never be the same after you watch her teach, and you will NOT want to miss these fabulous sessions.

Linda Spevacek is a composer of music that teachers love to use in their music programs. You will gain excellent ideas for new music and new ways to get students involved in singing through the sessions offered by this talented music educator.

K-State Faculty including Jana Fallin, Frank Tracz, Scott Lubaroff, Alfred Cochran, and Paul Hunt will be involved in this year's Symposium. Other K-State guest speakers include Coach Bill Snyder and Coach Jim Woolridge.
