All sessions, meetings, poster presentations, exhibits, and symposia will be held at the Hilton Minneapolis, 1001 Marquette Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403.

Conference Attire

Casual dress is appropriate through the meeting. For comfort in the air-conditioned meeting rooms, a light jacket or sweater is suggested. Some suggested items that will be helpful in making your stay pleasant include an umbrella, comfortable walking shoes, and several extra changes of clothing.

Climate

Located just to the south of the boreal-forest ecotone, Minneapolis is generally quite pleasant in July – the average maximum daytime temperature is 83 degrees, with evening temperatures often falling into the low sixties (but please check the weather forecast since it is quite possible that we will have highs in the 90s, and lows can be in the 40s if we have a cold front move through).

ComedySportz is improvisational comedy played as a sport! (If you’ve ever seen Whose Line is it Anyway, you’ve got the general idea.) They are located 2.7 miles from the Hilton Hotel at Calhoun Square and is about a 9 minute drive.

Inter-Terminal Transportation

People needing to travel between MSP’s terminals can do so via free Light Rail Transit (LRT) service.

Trains run between terminals around the clock, seven days a week, every 7 to 8 minutes during peak times and 10 to 15 minutes at other times of day. The Light Rail Transit page has more information about LRT service at MSP.

Light Rail Transit

Fares: $2.25 during rush hours (Monday through Friday, 6 to 9 am and 3 to 6:30 pm) and $1.75 at other times. Prices may be subject to change

Light Rail Transit (LRT) trains stop at both Terminal 1-Lindbergh and Terminal 2-Humphrey and connect travelers to 15 other destinations, including downtown Minneapolis to the north and the Mall of America to the south. For more information, visit www.metrotransit.org/light-rail.aspx.

Shuttle Service

Ticket counters are located in the Terminal 1-Lindbergh Ground Transportation Atrium, accessible via the terminal’s Tram Level. Follow the signs to the appropriate escalator or elevator up. Advance reservations are highly recommended.

Shuttles drop off travelers near the Green and Gold parking ramps across from the Lindbergh Terminal. From there, you can take an escalator or elevator down to the terminal’s Tram Level (Level T) or up to a skyway to Ticketing.

Travelers arriving at Terminal 2-Humphrey can call for pick up at the Super Shuttle kiosk in the Ground Transport Center, located on Level 1 of the Purple parking ramp across from the terminal building.

Taxi Service

Taxicab service is available at both terminals.

Fares: $34-$44, metered at a rate of up to $2.35 per mile and include a $3.50 per trip fee.

Terminal 1-Lindbergh

Taxi service at Terminal 1-Lindbergh is accessible via the Tram Level (Level T). Signs direct passengers one level up to the taxi starter booth, where airport staff will assist passengers in obtaining a taxi.

Terminal 2-Humphrey

At Terminal 2-Humphrey, taxi service is available at the Ground Transport Center, located on the ground level of the Purple parking ramp directly across from the terminal building.

City Bus Service

City bus service (Route 54) is provided by Metro Transit. Bus pick up and drop off is located outside the Terminal 1-Lindbergh Transit Center, on Level 1 of the Blue and Red parking ramps. From the Lindbergh Terminal, passengers can access the Transit Center via the tram on the Tram Level or via the Concourse Connector between concourses C and G.

There is no bus pick up at Terminal 2-Humphrey. Passengers arriving at the Humphrey Terminal must take light rail transit (or another means of transportation) to the Lindbergh Terminal to access city buses. There is no charge for rail service between MSP’s terminals.

Driving Directions to Hilton Minneapolis

From the East:

Take 94 West toward Minneapolis. Take the 11th Street exit and stay in the right-hand lane. The parking garage entrance is on 11th Street on the right between 2nd Avenue and Marquette. For valet parking, continue past the garage entrance to Marquette and turn right. Follow Marquette to the main hotel entrance.

From the West:

Take 94 East toward Minneapolis. Nearing downtown, take the Hennepin-Lyndale exit and stay in the left lane. Take a left at the first stop light onto Dunwoody Blvd. Turn right onto 12th Street. Follow 12th Street to Marquette Avenue and turn left. Follow Marquette one-and-a-half blocks to the main hotel entrance for valet parking. For self-parking, follow Marquette past the Hilton to 10th Street and turn right. Follow 10th Street to 2nd Avenue and turn right again. Enter the parking garage to your right.

From the North:

Take 35W South to 94 West. Enter 94 West - do not take the exit for 11th Avenue. On 94 West stay in the right-hand lane and take the 11th Street exit. Proceed on 11th Street staying in the right-hand lane. The parking garage entrance is on 11th Street on the right between 2nd Avenue and Marquette. For valet parking, continue past the garage to Marquette and turn right. Follow Marquette to the main hotel entrance.

From the South:

Take 35W North toward Minneapolis. Nearing downtown, follow “Downtown Exits” (#65, a left exit). Take the 11th Street exit. Proceed West on 11th Street staying in the right-hand lane. The parking garage entrance is on 11th Street on the right between 2nd Avenue and Marquette. For valet parking, continue past the garage to Marquette and turn right. Follow Marquette to the main hotel entrance.

From the airport:

Take Highway 5 East to 62W to 35W North and follow “Downtown Exits”. Exit at 11th Street and stay in the right-hand lane. The Hilton is located on the corner of 11th Street and Marquette Avenue.

From the Light Rail:

Light Rail is accessible from both the Humphrey and Lindbergh Terminals at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Follow signage towards “ground transportation”. Route 55 services downtown and runs every 7.5 minutes during rush hour and 10-15 minutes during non-rush hour. Travel time is approximately 25 minutes and fares vary between $1.75 - $2.25.

Proceed to the Nicollet Mall Station (5th Street & Nicollet). Take the “Free Nicollet Mall Bus” to the 11th Street stop (11th Street & Nicollet). Walk one block east to 11th and Marquette Avenue. Hotel located on corner of 11th Street and Marquette Avenue.
