Joint Meeting Reception – Oaks Park

This year's Joint Meeting reception will be at Oaks Park, named for the stately trees by which it is surrounded. Located in Portland’s Historic Sellwood District, along the banks of the beautiful Willamette River, Oaks Park celebrated it’s 100th consecutive year of operation, making it one of the oldest continuously operating amusement parks in America. The reception will be held in one of the many beautiful grassy picnic areas.
Oaks Park offers a variety of amusement rides for everyone to enjoy and will be open during the reception. They have some of the newest thrill rides, as well as some old time favorites. For the thrill seeker, they have rides like the Scream-n-Eagle and the Looping Thunder Coaster. For the rest of the family and children, they have more conservative rides. Ride bracelets are available for an additional $10.00 per person. If you wish to purchase a ride bracelet, please mark the appropriate spot on your registration form. Bracelets will be distributed to participants at the meeting registration desk when you check in.
The Joint Meeting reception is included in all full conference, first exhibitor representative, and accompanying persons registration fees. All others must purchase a reception ticket.

Clark Hubbs Memorial Banquet – Alexander's, 23rd Floor, Hilton Portland & Executive Tower

There will be a dinner in honor of Dr. Clark Hubbs in the old Alexander’s Restaurant on the 23rd floor of the Hilton following the Special Hubbs’ Paper Session. The evening will start with a social hour at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner. The over 500+ Hubbs Fish Shirt Collection will be auctioned off after dinner to raise funds for student travel. Tickets will be $35 and will include 2 drink tickets.
AES Banquet – McMenamin's Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W. Burnside

On Sunday, July 26, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. – midnight, the America Elasmobranch Society Banquet will be held McMenamin’s Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W. Burnside. The social hour will start at 6:00 p.m., with dinner served at 7:00 p.m. The menu includes pepper-crusted round of beeg, baked four-cheese penne pasta, baked petite salmon filet, green beans, potatoes au gratin, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, mixed salad, rolls, and assorted desserts. Wine will be served with dinner, plus cash bars will be available. Cost of the tickets is $55.00 for non-AES members, $50 for AES members, and and $35.00 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the meeting in the AES Office located in the Executive Suite, 3rd floor of the Hilton. Please make sure to get your tickets early so that final numbers can be provided to the caterer.
SSAR/HL Live Auction - Pavilion Ballroom, Plaza Level

The HL/SSAR live auction is an opportunity to support the programs of SSAR and HL and to clean out your office or house of those interesting and valuable herp or fish related items. Any herp or fish related item - including books, art, sculptures, famous autographs, field equipment, or clothing - is appreciated. Please note that items made from amphibians, reptiles, fish, or parts thereof, should NOT be donated. Donations are tax deductible. Receipts will be issued on request (please request receipt at time of donation).

Early Life History Section Social – McMenamins (Lola’s Room), 1332 W. Burnside

Join members and friends of the ELHS/LFC for their Social to be held Sunday evening, 7/26, at Lola’s Room of McMenamins Crystal Ballroom, which is a local brew pub. The Social will begin at 5:30 and continue into the evening. The LFC Flag auction, with funds directed towards the ELHS’s Blaxter Student Poster endowment, will occur at this social (bring enthusiasm and single or group auction bids!). Hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. Because this is a separate ticketed event please add this ELHS/LFC Social to your JMIH registration. Note that this event can be added to your registration before or after the March 31 early registration deadline, but please commit early as it helps our planning. All are welcome to join us for a truly fun evening! The John H.S. Blaxter Best Student Poster Award and The Sally Leonard Richardson Best Student Paper Award will be given at the ELHS Social.

On Monday, July 27, 2009, from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m., the Joint Meeting Awards Banquet will be held in the Pavilion Ballrooms of the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower. The social hour will start at 6:00 p.m., with dinner served at 7:00 p.m. The menu is still to be determined. Wine will be served with dinner, plus cash bars will be available. Cost of the tickets is $60.00 for professional participants and guests, and $45.00 for graduate students. Sign up for the banquet when you register for the conference.
Group Photo - Pioneer Courthouse Square
Friday, July 24 12:00 p.m.
Traditional group photos will be taken on Friday, July 24. The Joint Meeting group photo will be taken first, followed by the AES group photograph. Photographs should be pre-ordered when registering for the conference. Delivery will be on site during the conference. A limited number of photographs may be available for purchase on site. Cost is $15.00 per photograph.
