The Hilton Minneapolis is the location of the 2011 Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists.

The Hilton Minneapolis is located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. It offers 821 guest rooms and suites featuring their signature Hilton Serenity® Bed, accented by warm-shaded designs and beautifully hand-carved oak wood. Additionally, all rooms and suites are fitted with large windows, affording expansive views of Minneapolis. A block of guest rooms has been reserved for Joint Meeting participants. A group rate of $179 per night plus applicable taxes has been arranged from July 3-14, 2011. This rate may include up to four room occupants. Children and other accompanying adults are welcome.

In order to confirm a room assignment, attendees will be required to provide a first night’s deposit, refundable up to 24 hours in advance of your arrival date. Major credit cards are acceptable to establish prepayment. All credit cards used to prepay will be charged immediately.

Reservation Deadline:

Hotel reservations must be made and secured by Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Reservations received after 5:00 p.m. local time at the Hotel on this cut-off date will be honored at the hotel’s prevailing rate, based on availability.

Make your reservation early either online or by calling the Hilton Minneapolis at 612-376-1000. Be sure to state the group code ICH or that you are with the Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists in order to get the group rate.

We know that, for many attendees, finding the lowest possible hotel rate is paramount, and we are aware that often people choose to stay on the outskirts of town and then drive to the meeting each day.

It certainly is your choice as to where to stay during the meeting, but please understand that commitments are made to the host hotels that a specified number of hotel rooms will be occupied by our meeting attendees. In exchange for the hotel room occupation, we are provided with complimentary meeting space, along with many other cost-saving concessions.

The organizing societies continue to make every effort to keep costs at a minimum for those attending the JMIH. We ask for your help in assuring that there are no negative financial implications to the societies and the membership.

Please be aware of a potential scam that is happening frequently in many cities whereby a company (not affiliated with the hotel) is calling exhibitors and attendees to lure them to call an 800 phone number by claiming that they have important information about the meeting, or contacting to book your hotel room for the meeting at a discounted rate. IF YOU RECEIVE ANY COMMUNICATIONS LIKE THIS, THIS COMPANY HAS NO AFFILIATION WITH OUR MEETING. BEWARE OF THESE HOUSING RESERVATION SOLICITORS. The room rates quoted by these companies CANNOT be guaranteed, these rooms often have to be paid in full up front, they often will not issue refunds if you need to cancel your reservation, your confirmation is generally not available until three to seven days prior to the meeting, and even then there is no guarantee that a room will actually be available to you upon arrival.

Inter-Terminal Transportation

People needing to travel between MSP's terminals can do so via free Light Rail Transit (LRT) service.

Trains run between terminals around the clock, seven days a week, every 7 to 8 minutes during peak times and 10 to 15 minutes at other times of day. The Light Rail Transit page has more information about LRT service at MSP.

Light Rail Transit

Fares: $2.25 during rush hours (Monday through Friday, 6 to 9 am and 3 to 6:30 pm) and $1.75 at other times. Prices may be subject to change.

Light Rail Transit (LRT) trains stop at both Terminal 1-Lindbergh and Terminal 2-Humphrey and connect travelers to 15 other destinations, including downtown Minneapolis to the north and the Mall of America to the south For more information, visit www.metrotransit.org/light-rail.

Shuttle Service

Ticket counters are located in the Terminal 1-Lindbergh Ground Transportation Atrium, accessible via the terminal's Tram Level. Follow the signs to the appropriate escalator or elevator up. Advance reservations are highly recommended.

Shuttles drop off travelers near the Green and Gold parking ramps across from the Lindbergh Terminal. From there, you can take an escalator or elevator down to the terminal's Tram Level (Level T) or up to a skyway to Ticketing.

Travelers arriving at Terminal 2-Humphrey can call for pick up at the Super Shuttle kiosk in the Ground Transport Center, located on Level 1 of the Purple parking ramp across from the terminal building.

Taxi Service

Taxicab service is available at both terminals.

Fares: $34-$44, metered at a rate of up to $2.35 per mile and include a $3.50 per trip fee.

Terminal 1-Lindbergh

Taxi service at Terminal 1-Lindbergh is accessible via the Tram Level (Level T). Signs direct passengers one level up to the taxi starter booth, where airport staff will assist passengers in obtaining a taxi.

Terminal 2-Humphrey

At Terminal 2-Humphrey, taxi service is available at the Ground Transport Center, located on the ground level of the Purple parking ramp directly across from the terminal building.

City Bus Service

City bus service (Route 54) is provided by Metro Transit. Bus pick up and drop off is located outside the Terminal 1-Lindbergh Transit Center, on Level 1 of the Blue and Red parking ramps. From the Lindbergh Terminal, passengers can access the Transit Center via the tram on the Tram Level or via the Concourse Connector between concourses C and G.

There is no bus pick up at Terminal 2-Humphrey. Passengers arriving at the Humphrey Terminal must take light rail transit (or another means of transportation) to the Lindbergh Terminal to access city buses. There is no charge for rail service between MSP's terminals.

Driving Directions to Hilton Minneapolis

From the East:

Take 94 West toward Minneapolis. Take the 11th Street exit and stay in the right-hand lane. The parking garage entrance is on 11th Street on the right between 2nd Avenue and Marquette. For valet parking, continue past the garage entrance to Marquette and turn right. Follow Marquette to the main hotel entrance.

From the West:

Take 94 East toward Minneapolis. Nearing downtown, take the Hennepin-Lyndale exit and stay in the left lane. Take a left at the first stop light onto Dunwoody Blvd. Turn right onto 12th Street. Follow 12th Street to Marquette Avenue and turn left. Follow Marquette one-and-a-half blocks to the main hotel entrance for valet parking. For self-parking, follow Marquette past the Hilton to 10th Street and turn right. Follow 10th Street to 2nd Avenue and turn right again. Enter the parking garage to your right.

From the North:

Take 35W South to 94 West. Enter 94 West – do not take the exit for 11th Avenue. On 94 West stay in the right-hand lane and take the 11th Street exit. Proceed on 11th Street staying in the right-hand lane. The parking garage entrance is on 11th Street on the right between 2nd Avenue and Marquette. For valet parking, continue past the garage to Marquette and turn right. Follow Marquette to the main hotel entrance.

From the South:

Take 35W North toward Minneapolis. Nearing downtown, follow ''Downtown Exits'' (#65, a left exit). Take the 11th Street exit. Proceed West on 11th Street staying in the right-hand lane. The parking garage entrance is on 11th Street on the right between 2nd Avenue and Marquette. For valet parking, continue past the garage to Marquette and turn right. Follow Marquette to the main hotel entrance.

From the airport:

Take Highway 5 East to 62W to 35W North and follow “Downtown Exits”. Exit at 11th Street and stay in the right-hand lane. The Hilton is located on the corner of 11th Street and Marquette Avenue.

From the Light Rail:

Light Rail is accessible from both the Humphrey and Lindbergh Terminals at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. Follow signage towards “ground transportation”. Route 55 services downtown and runs every 7.5 minutes during rush hour and 10-15 minutes during non-rush hour. Travel time is approximately 25 minutes and fares vary between $1.75 – $2.25.

Proceed to the Nicollet Mall Station (5th Street & Nicollet). Take the “Free Nicollet Mall Bus” to the 11th Street stop (11th Street & Nicollet). Walk one block east to 11th and Marquette Avenue. Hotel located on corner of 11th Street and Marquette Avenue.

Guest Parking

Overnight valet parking is $23 per night and self-parking is available for $13 per night with in and out privileges. Rates are subject to change.
