Welcome To Kansas State University!

Kansas State University serves as the lead institution for Ecuador’s Go Teacher scholarship program and has sub-contracted with several qualified institutions to offer Ecuadorian teaching scholars quality English language development and pedagogical strategies in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).

As lead institution, Kansas State University:

  • Places approved scholars at participating institutions
  • Receives applications for Form DS 2019 from all scholars and sends application information to appropriate institution
  • Receives travel information from all scholars and provides to all participating institutions
  • Trains partner institutions in K-State’s TESL curriculum
  • Provides academic oversight to both English language development and pedagogy coursework
  • Conducts and analyzes logistical and academic surveys
  • Serves as liaison between institutions and Ecuador

Accepted scholars will complete the following steps:

  1. Complete and submit the Go Teacher application for Form DS-2019.
  2. Wait to receive Form DS-2019 from the institution you were assigned. Form DS 2019 is sent to SENESCYT for distributing.
  3. Attend scholarship ceremony in Ecuador to receive Form DS 2019 and pre-departure information from institutions
  4. Attend visa interview with U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Ecuador to apply for a J1 Visa AFTER you have received your DS-2019 from your host institution.
  5. Upon Visa approval, make travel arrangements according to the instructions provided by their host institution.
  6. Submit travel information
  7. Pack for program according to instructions provided by their host institution.
