Program Delivery
Psychology - Industrial/Organizational Emphasis
The Master’s of Science (MS) degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (MIOP) program is offered through distance education with a two-week summer workshop on the Manhattan, Kansas campus during July each summer.
Online
The program utilizes K-State Online as the delivery system for the online courses. K-State Online is a course management system designed to deliver an interactive, web-based classroom to students.
K-State Online provides:
- Discussion rooms
- Virtual office hours
- Message boards
- Multimedia slide shows
- Audio-Video streaming
- Point and click navigation
Students enrolled in the MIOP program will need access to the Internet and a computer meeting minimum requirements.
On-Campus
The on-campus component of MIOP makes Kansas State University’s distance-based graduate program unique, and provides tangible and intangible advantages not available elsewhere. During these sessions, students meet face-to-face with the faculty and with their classmates. This allows opportunities for discussions with faculty members about careers, research proposals, course assignments, and other student concerns that are more personal and collaborative than online discussions. Just as important, the on-campus sessions permit students to get to know one another to an extent not possible via online interactions. Moreover, the networking among students that takes place during the summer sessions not only enhances the learning experience during the program, but it also consistently proves to be invaluable later in the careers of graduates. Each MIOP student has a cohort of professionals with whom they have a personal relationship, and to whom they can turn for advice and support long after graduation. This is only possible due to the unique on-campus elements in the MIOP program.
