Continuing Education Staff Member One of K-State’s 2012 Classified Award of Excellence Recipients

Three classified staff members are receiving the 2012 Classified Award of Excellence for their outstanding achievement and performance, their ability to inspire excellence in others, and their initiative and creativity. The winners are Kim Schurle, Paul Wagoner and John Wolf.
These three individuals showcase the daily activities of K-State’s classified staff who regularly provide critical service in support of the mission of Kansas State University: teaching, research and service. The awards will be presented at the annual Classified Employee Recognition Ceremony at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the K-State Student Union’s Main Ballroom. The accomplishments of each winner will be highlighted over the next few days.
Kim Schurle, duplication/mail manager assistant in the Division of Continuing Education, is the winner in the Office and Clerical Category. She was nominated by Sue C. Maes, dean of continuing education.
Schurle oversees the Duplicating and Mail Center for the division and provides project management services for distance education, conferences, and other division programs. Schurle is an exemplary employee counted on daily by everyone in the division. Individuals appreciate her can-do attitude, willingness to go the extra mile and ability to get the job done on time in an excellent manner. Schurle goes about her work in a quiet, extremely patient, unassuming manner, constantly thinking about the next way to make things better and how to insert more creativity, fun, and quality team experience into the workplace.
Her efforts build camaraderie throughout the division and contribute toward high morale. It is easy to become overwhelmed by all of the information, projects, responsibilities/tasks, deadlines, and questions that Schurle deals with every day, but she seamlessly completes all tasks, meets deadlines and requirements, and cheerfully makes herself available professionally, personally and in a volunteer role.
