K-State Brings Home Majority of Regional Awards from University Continuing Education Association
Kansas State University has received its largest number of Great Plains Region Awards from the University Continuing Education Association in a given year. Five awards were presented to K-State at the joint 2009 Mid-America/Great Plains Conference Oct. 29 in La Crosse, Wis.
The association's Great Plains Region judges submissions from higher education institutions throughout Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming, with K-State taking home honors in the majority of the nine award categories. – Full story
K-State Intersession Offering More Online and On-Campus Classes for January 2010 through University Initiative
Kansas State University will offer more than 50 classes during the January 2010 intersession, and more than 10 of these classes will be offered entirely online -- the most ever offered during any K-State intersession term.
Intersession offers classes in convenient three-week sessions between the standard university terms. The development of more online classes for the upcoming January session was an initiative led by K-State administrators and students. – Full story
K-State Wins Sloan Consortium Award for ELATEwiki
Kansas State University will receive the 2009 Sloan Consortium Effective Practice Award for ELATEwiki, a collaborative Web site that allows students and faculty to post messages and interact through a dynamic information exchange.
The award will be presented Oct. 29 at the 15th annual International Sloan Consortium in Orlando, Fla. It is the first time K-State has received an award from the consortium, which advocates the integration of online education into the mainstream of higher education and helps entities improve effectiveness by assessing the affordability, quality and satisfaction of online education. – Full story
K-State Offering a Bachelor's Degree Completion Program in Family Studies and Human Services through Distance Education
Kansas State University's School of Family Studies and Human Services and the Division of Continuing Education are offering a new bachelor's degree completion program in family studies and human services online beginning this fall.
The degree will provide students with the knowledge of human development and how it relates to the family. Students also will learn about programs and services that are beneficial in raising the quality of life for individuals and families. – Full story
