K-State Launches First Distance-Based Doctorate Program
Working professionals in the finance industry can now bolster their skills with a distance-based doctorate in personal financial planning from Kansas State University.
K-State launched the doctorate program in personal financial planning this summer. It is the university's first distance-based doctorate program and is conducted almost exclusively online, save the summers when students come to campus for an intensive 10-day course. The fourth summer, students will travel abroad to see firsthand how global markets work and how they affect financial planning in the United States and worldwide. – Full story
K-State Offering Courses on Grant Writing and Fundraising through Distance Education
Kansas State University will offer the distance education courses, Grant Writing: Finding the Elusive Dollar, EDACE 786, and Fundamentals of Nonprofit Organization Fundraising, EDLST 502, in the fall 2009 semester.
Both classes begin in September and both classes look at numerous resources for raising money for an organization. – Full story
G.I. Jobs Magazine Puts K-State among the Nation's Top Military - Friendly Schools
G.I. Jobs magazine has designated Kansas State University one of the most military-friendly schools in the nation for 2010.
The honor means that K-State is in the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide, and that the university actively recruits military students and offers programs to meet their needs. G.I. Jobs magazine is a publication aimed at helping those affiliated with the military to continue their education and transition into the civilian work force. – Full story
16th Annual Bridge Design Workshop Oct. 9 at K-State
Kansas State University's 16th annual Bridge Design Workshop, "New Trends in Concrete Bridges," will be Friday, Oct. 9, at the K-State Student Union.
The workshop is ideal for professional engineers, engineers-in-training, contractors and engineering technicians involved in bridge fabrication and construction, bridge design and bridge rating and inspection. – Full story
K-State Evening College Increasing Class Offerings for Fall Semester
This fall, Kansas State University's Evening College is set to offer classes from more than 20 K-State departments – around a 25 percent increase in the variety of classes offered during spring, summer and fall Evening College terms in the last year.
The increase will help serve the Evening College student demographic as well as on-campus students, according to Dave Stewart, assistant dean of continuing education at K-State. – Full story
K-State Students Encouraged to Enroll Quickly for Fall 2009 Distance Education Classes
Enrollment in Kansas State University distance education classes offered during fall 2009 is under way and students are encouraged to act quickly because the fall semester at K-State starts Monday, Aug. 24.
"The pattern of recent years suggests that enrollments in our distance courses will increase significantly again this fall, so it is advisable to enroll as soon as possible," said Dave Stewart, assistant dean of continuing education at K-State. – Full story
