K-State Facilitates Annual Juvenile Justice Conference in Topeka

The ninth annual Governor's Conference on Juvenile Justice: Partners in Progress will be July 20-22 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka.

The conference, facilitated by Kansas State University, is ideal for any attorneys, case workers, parents, counselors, social workers or anyone interested in juvenile justice, crime reduction and crime prevention. It focuses on legal issues, facilities issues, prevention, mental health issues, community programs and services. – Full story

K-State Arabic Course to be Offered at Fort Riley

Kansas State University is offering Arabic I at Fort Riley for the fall 2008 semester.

Enrollment is now being accepted for the course, which will be 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Aug. 12 to Oct. 2. – Full story

K-State Host to World-Renowned Workshop on Rapid Methods for Detecting Microorganisms in Food and Other Substances June 13-20

Kansas State University once again is host to a noted microbiology workshop that helps the scientists who test food and other samples for microorganisms. K-State's 28th annual Rapid Methods and Automation in Microbiology workshop will be June 13-20.

Rapid methods and automation are a dynamic area in applied microbiology dealing with the study of improved methods in the isolation, early detection, characterization and enumeration of microorganisms and their products in clinical, food, industrial and environmental samples. The K-State workshop will focus on the practical application of conventional and new commercial systems of rapid identification of microorganisms from medical specimens, foods, water and the environment. – Full story

Waste Management Workshop for Colleges and Universities June 10 at K-State

The fifth Biennial Waste Management Workshop for Colleges and Universities will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, in Kansas State University's Fiedler Hall.

The one-day workshop will give an overview of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act for those responsible at vocational technical colleges, community colleges, and public and private colleges and universities. – Full story

Science and Engineering Workshop Available at K-State for Girls in Eighth and Ninth Grades

Four days of engineering, math and science exploration is the agenda planned for eighth- and ninth-grade girls July 8-11 at Kansas State University.

The sixth annual EXCITE! Workshop will feature hands-on activities led by K-State faculty, as well as industry tours geared toward the eight workshop tracts of biofuels, computer-gaming design, nano-scale polymers, nano-sensors, robotics, designing spaces, green roof design and principles of flight. – Full story
