K-State to Offer Courses in Traffic Assistance Services for Kansas

Kansas State University and the University of Kansas, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Federal Highway Administration and the Kansas Department of Transportation, will offer courses for Traffic Assistance Services for Kansas in 2008.
This highway safety training has been provided since 1980. Continuing education units are available. Course locations and dates include:
Topeka – Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Technicians, Jan. 8, 2008; Geometric Design for Very Low-Volume Local Roads, Jan. 9, 2008; and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Emergency Response Personnel, Jan. 10, 2008.
Garden City – Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Technicians, March 18, 2008; Low Cost Safety Improvements, March 19, 2008; and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Emergency Response Personnel, March 20, 2008.
Salina – Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Technicians, May 20, 2007; Traffic Engineering for Technicians, May 21, 2007; and Bikes and Pedestrian Facilities/Traffic Calming: A Safety Perspective, May 22, 2007.
A course in Liability and Traffic Control also will be offered for independent study.
Course instructors include Robert W. Stokes, professor of civil engineering at K-State; Thomas E. Mulinazzi, professor of civil engineering at KU; and Lynn Berges, traffic safety engineer at the Kansas Department of Transportation.
