December 21, 2006
Kansas State University is offering adults even more opportunities to pursue their educational goals through a growing number of distance education courses.
Enrollment is currently under way for K-State's spring 2007 semester. The university offers 24 distance degree programs, hundreds of courses and many certificate programs.
For more than 30 years, K-State has offered courses and degrees for people who are not able to come to campus, leave a current job or who don't wish to relocate their family.
For the spring semester, K-State will offer four new programs, including a master's degree in counseling and student development; a bachelor's degree in elementary education offered in southwest Kansas; and certificate programs in applied statistics and public administration.
“These new programs continue our tradition of doing all we can to meet people's educational needs,
” said David Stewart, assistant dean of program development and marketing at K-State's Division of Continuing Education. “We're excited to be able to offer more career choices and opportunities to individuals interested in obtaining a certificate, completing a bachelor's degree or earning a master's degree.
”
Courses offered by K-State through distance education are offered through a variety of formats including online, CD, audiotape, Telenet 2, multimedia, videotape and guided study.
“From a farmer who can listen to an audiotape while driving a tractor, to the traveling executive and to the homemaker who take courses over the Internet, we try to accommodate all of our students with various innovative technologies,
” Stewart said.
