K-State Signs 2 + 2 Agreement with Johnson County Community College

Kansas State University and Johnson County Community College have signed a 2 + 2 agreement for a bachelor's degree in food science and industry.

Johnson County Community College is the ninth community college in Kansas to sign an agreement with K-State specifically for nontraditional, place-bound learners. The agreement was signed Nov. 29 on the Johnson County Community College campus.

The agreement will allow Johnson County Community College students to earn an associate of applied science degree in food and beverage management and then transfer credits to K-State to complete a bachelor's degree in food science and industry.

“We are very excited to add Johnson County Community College as a 2 + 2 partner,” said Daniel Butcher, program coordinator for the bachelor's degree completion program at K-State's Division of Continuing Education. “This agreement makes it possible for students to pursue a bachelor's degree from K-State that builds on the education they will attain from Johnson County Community College.”

Representatives of Johnson County Community College present for the signing included Larry Tyree, interim president; Dana Grove, executive vice president for academic affairs; Lindy Robinson, assistant dean of design and hospitality; Marilyn Rhinehart, vice president of instruction; and Susan Arreguin, articulation coordinator.

Along with Butcher, K-State representatives included Betty Stevens, associate vice provost for informational technology partnerships and associate dean of continuing education; Dave Stewart, assistant dean of continuing education; Curtis Kastner, director of the Food Science Institute; and Donald Boggs, associate dean of the College of Agriculture.
