Position Description - Coordinator for Market Research
Kansas State University’s Division of Continuing Education is seeking a Coordinator/Market Research who will define new niche markets and trends through the use of market research, assessment, and business analysis; determine which needs the Division can fill; and then coordinate the rapid development of innovative, high-quality, educational products to fill those needs.
Through the Division of Continuing Education, Kansas State University extends its educational resources beyond the on-campus community. Lifelong learning opportunities are taking new and creative forms, and the need for lifelong learning is expanding in an ever-changing global society. A strategic part of the Division of Continuing Education’s vision is to become a major force in providing learning opportunities throughout the world. It will be the responsibility of the Coordinator/Market Research to support this vision. Some travel and weekend work may be required for research, promotional and marketing activities.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Conduct database, secondary, and primary research to determine marketing needs and strategies
- Conduct environmental scans to assess the viability of existing, new, and/or proposed programs
- Analyze and improve current marketing strategies
- Become familiar with current K-State courses and programs and match niche markets with K-State resources
- Collaborate with program coordinators to develop new courses and/or programs that respond to niche markets
- Analyze new program opportunities from a fiscal perspective
- Assist with planning initiatives for marketing strategies
- Research and report what other educational institutions are doing
- Regularly evaluate the electronic presence of the Division of Continuing Education and recommend enhancements
- Serve as a member of the marketing team(s) within the Division of Continuing Education and the university as requested
- Assist with promotional and marketing activities as requested
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
- Knowledge of all phases of marketing, including, but not limited to, web-based
- Familiarity with cutting-edge technology
- Quantitative and electronic analytical skills
- Ability to successfully research, plan, and evaluate marketing plans
- Experience in financial analysis
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Collaborative skills
- Strong public speaking, presentation, and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relational skills
- Personal computer skills, including database management and report generation
- Demonstrated creative and innovative thinking skills
- 2 years’ experience in marketing or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in marketing or closely related field
- 5 years’ experience in marketing or related field
- Entrepreneurial skills
- Experience in higher education
Salary: $37,000 - $42,000
