Position Description - Coordinator for Ft. Riley
Kansas State University’s Division of Continuing Education is seeking a Program Coordinator to facilitate the delivery and coordination of university courses and programs to military personnel, family members, and others. This position is located at Fort Riley, Kansas and is a regular 12-month appointment.
The primary responsibility of this position is to promote Kansas State University programs. To that end, the person in this position:
- Maintains K-State/Fort Riley office operations including office hours, information materials, student counseling, and liaison with the Education Services Office and other colleges and universities in the Fort Riley education consortium.
- Interviews, counsels, and informs current and prospective students of K-State academic programs, including on-campus (Manhattan and Salina), Fort Riley, and distance education.
- Informs students of admissions requirements, financial aid programs, and degrees and certificates available from the university. Refers students to the appropriate university entity including Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Graduate School, or college.
- Maintains knowledge of university policies and procedures for all students, but especially for members of the military, concerning residency, tuition and fees, transfer of credits, transcripts, and evaluation programs for academic and professional training.
- Maintains knowledge of all university academic programs, especially those available to distance and non-traditional students.
- Participates in promotional and marketing events for the university as they relate to academic programs and university activities available to students. Coordinates with the university Director of Military Affairs and the Division of Continuing Education for marketing activities.
- Proficiently uses the GoArmyEd Portal, the Centralized Tuition Assistance Management (CTAM) system, and the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Army Degree (SOCAD) program.
- Stays familiar with the technology used at the Fort Riley office, on campus, and for distance programs, academic programs, student support, and educational delivery.
- Provides logistical and administrative support for all academic courses and university activities at Fort Riley, including classrooms, technology, scheduling, marketing, students and instructors, promotional materials and activities, and coordination with the Educational Services Office.
- Compiles and maintains data on university activities, student information, academic programs, and information dissemination; provides reports as required by the university, the Division of Continuing Education, the Director of Military Affairs, and the Education Services Office.
- Serves as a member of the Division of Continuing Education Program coordination staff.
Because of the constant interface with students, faculty, and Division personnel, the applicant must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with the public. Successful candidates are expected to show evidence of outstanding organizational ability, self initiative, and proficient computer skills. The successful candidate must be familiar with military operations, including military rank, Centralized Tuition Assistance Management (CTAM), and Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Army Degrees (SOCAD).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Familiarity with military organizations and practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven record of administrative skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Personal computer skills
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s degree
- Knowledge of K-State degree programs, distance education, admissions, registration, and financial assistance
- Knowledge of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges and military tuition assistance
- Familiarity with educational delivery technologies
- Recent military experience
Salary: $34,000 - $39,500
